PATF Timeline

• August 29, 2002          Concept of PATF presented by Claude Bouchard to IASO Executive at the 9th International Congress on Obesity (Sao Paulo, Brazil)

• May 29, 2003              PATF officially formed at the European Congress on Obesity (Helsinki, Finland).  First PATF Chair S.N. Blair (2002-2006) elected and inaugural membership appointed

• 2003-04                        PATF mission statement and objectives developed.

• June 17,  2005              PATF organized symposium at the Fourth Annual Conference of the International Society of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA) (Amsterdam, the Netherlands): ”Physical Activity in Obesity Management and Prevention”

• April 20, 2006              PATF organized a symposium at the First International Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (Atlanta, USA):”Physical Activity for the Prevention of Weight Gain and Maintenance of Weight Loss”. 

• August 31, 2006          PATF invited to participate in the Activating Queenslander Forum.  Hosted by the Heart Foundation (Australia), Brisbane City Council and the School of    Human Movement Studies at the University of Queensland (Brisbane, Australia)

• Sept. 1, 2006                 PATF organized two symposia at the Physical Activity and Obesity Satellite Conference (Brisbane) associated with the 10th International Congress on Obesity, (Sydney, Australia): “Longitudinal Epidemiological Data on Physical Activity, Obesity and Health” and “Contemporary Issues in Physical Activity, Obesity and Public Health”

• Sept. 6, 2006                 New PATF Chair elected at 10th International Congress on Obesity, (Sydney, Australia): P.T. Katzmarzyk (2006-2010)

• June 24-27, 2007        PATF participated in the International Conference on Physical Activity and Obesity in Children (Toronto, Canada) as the Expert Panel.

• April 13-16, 2008        PATF organized a symposium at the Second International Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health (Amsterdam, the Netherlands):”The Role of Physical Activity in Attenuating Health Risk Associated with Obesity” 

• May 28-31, 2008         PATF organized a symposium at the 55th Annual Meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)  (Indianapolis, IN, USA)
