The International Association for the Study of Obesity (IASO) held the first SCOPE (Specialist Certification of Obesity Professional Education) School in India from the 23rd - 25th November 2012 at the Hilton Janak Puri, Delhi.
The 2012 programme featured essential information on very low calorie diets, measures to maintain weight loss, bariatric surgery, pregnancy and how to manage weight during pregnancy, obesity in children and strategies to motivate patients.
The conference took place over three days and all participants were encouraged to be present for the whole meeting. The meeting was co-chaired by Dr Brij Makkar and Prof Nick Finer with Dr Neeta Deshpande, Dr Anoop Misra, Dr Rajeev Chawla and Dr Naval K Vikram, who together formed the organising committee for this event in Delhi.
The All India Association for Advancing Research in Obesity was the local association for SCOPE School Delhi.
