Obesity Expert forum

Obesity poses one of the greatest public health challenges for the 21st century with particularly alarming trends in several parts of the world. The prevalence of adult obesity has risen three-fold in many countries since the 1980s and the epidemic is spreading at particularly high rates in children.

The management of Obesity and its related disorders is now at the forefront of Government and Public Health initiatives across the World. There is increasing concern within the European Union and the WHO about Obesity and its co-morbidities such as Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiovascular Disease and Cardiometabolic Risk and Prevention.

The IASO Obesity Expert Forum aims to address these issues by creating a strategic platform for discussion

between senior IASO members and invited senior industry representatives.

The aim of the Obesity Expert Forum is for IASO Executive Committee representatives to update senior industry figures on important initiatives and achievements and to facilitate discussion and exchange of expertise on selected key issues facing all those involved in tackling obesity and its co-morbidities.

The Forum will meet on a biannual basis for a focused discussion on the latest ‘Hot Topics’ affecting the field.

Each expert meeting will take the following format:

Focused discussion on a ‘Hot Topic’: Professor Philip James, Professor Arne Astrup and IASO nominated world expert
Dinner/Debate

The Obesity Expert Forum will allow IASO to engage with industry experts to

develop a coherent approach to achieving our goals.

Who Can Become a Member?

Membership of the Obesity Expert Forum is by invitation only – IASO will invite senior representatives from companies active in the field of obesity prevention and research.

Benefits of Membership:

Membership of the Obesity Expert Forum will entitle you to attend two Expert Seminars each year. This will afford you access to worldwide opinion leaders in the field and involvement in the selection of topics for future Expert seminars.

You will also benefit from increased exposure to IASO key opinion leaders by being invited to join our influential Corporate Liaison Group. In addition, your organisation will be acknowledged on the official IASO website and in our Annual Reports and Newsletters.

Membership Fee:

€15K per annum

Over the last decade, IASO has grown into a dynamic, professionally managed organisation. Our goals are ambitious – we are determined to tackle the problem of obesity but we require substantial funding to do so.
