% Childhood overweight and obesity by Region
Prevalence % Overweight and Obesity by WHO Region by Gender and Age
Notes for researchers
The table highlights the % prevalence of overweight and obesity in children by region, age and gender. The data are based on an unpublished IASO analysis. This 2013 analysis is a further update of the 2000 Global Burden of Disease. The countries within the analysis are selected on the appropriateness and availability of the data. Cut off point used for defining overweight in children are the IOTF International Cut off Points. Only data using measured heights and weight were used. The regions are as outlined by WHO www.who.int. Due to its population size and the methodology around determining these figures China dominate the SEA Region, therefore we provide the figures including and excluding China.
